The Reds have made a perfect start to the Premier League campaign following six straight victories to begin the 2018-19 campaign in style.
Liverpool FC were 3-0 winners against Southampton at Anfield last weekend to move two points clear at the top of the table.
Chelsea FC started the weekend at the top of the Premier League table but Maurizio Sarri’s side were held to a goalless draw with West Ham on Sunday.
The Blues are two points adrift of Liverpool FC ahead of their meeting at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League next weekend.
Defending champions Manchester City are two points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men after the Citizens dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher believes the title challengers can ill-afford to drop points.
“I think the top six are so far ahead now that if just one or two of them teams on any given weekend drop points it feels like a really big thing for the rest of the other teams because a lot of the other dropped points come from each other,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“So far Liverpool winning, City winning, for Tottenham and Arsenal, for Chelsea and United to drop points against two of the lesser sides it’s a really big thing. City showed last year – and whoever is going to win the title this year – that the points total now to win the title – it was 80 or so when I was playing – but it’s 90 plus now.”
Liverpool FC are looking to win the Premier League title for the first time following second-placed finishes in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds signed AS Monaco star Fabinho, RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.
