The England international has been earning plenty of praise for his solid performances for the Merseyside outfit after having broken into the first team at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
Gomez has started all four of Liverpool FC’s Premier League games so far this term and he has helped Liverpool FC to claim maximum points from their opening games to help them lead the way at the top of the table.
The 21-year-old will be aiming to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Anfield for the rest of the season as he looks to help Klopp’s men challenge for major honours.
And ex-England striker Shearer has admitted that he has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from Gomez so far this term.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Shearer said: “Now Liverpool have Joe Gomez alongside Van Dijk, who would have undoubtedly gone to the World Cup with England had he not been injured.
“At just 21, Gomez has a great future ahead of him — as do 19-year-old Trent Alexander Arnold at right-back and Andrew Robertson, 24, on the left.
“With the experience of Van Dijk guiding them all, it is an excellent back four, not just for now but the future.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
The Reds are still aiming to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
