Rio Ferdinand warns Dejan Lovren that he will struggle to get back into the Liverpool FC team

Rio Ferdinand has told Dejan Lovren that he is going to struggle to get back into the Liverpool FC team this season.

In his absence, Joe Gomez has been impressing in Liverpool FC’s defence alongside January signing Virgil van Dijk, with the Reds having won all six of their opening games in all competitions this season.
Lovren was partnered with Van Dijk in the Liverpool FC defence for most of the second half of last season.
However, former Manchester United defender Ferdinand feels that the Croatia international is going to struggle to break back into the first team due to Gomez’s fine form for the Reds this term.
Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Ferdinand said: “When Gomez was injured, Lovren came in and played really well again.
“I think Lovren’s going to struggle to get back into the team now because I think Jurgen Klopp sees Gomez as long-term.
“He’s quick, he’s good with the ball. Him and Van Dijk together is the perfect match.
“I think Lovren is going to struggle for me.”
Liverpool FC snatched a late winner to claim a 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Reds will now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Southampton on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.
