The Brazilian goalkeeper has been settling into life at Anfield after having signed for the Reds from AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
Alisson kept three clean sheets in his first three Premier League outings for Liverpool FC, but the goalkeeper was at fault as he conceded during the Reds’ 2-1 win over Leicester City at the weekend.
Nevertheless, the shot-stopper has been in largely solid form so far this season and former Liverpool FC striker Kewell feels that he has added some much needed stability to the Reds’ defence.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News, Kewell said: “The way Van Dijk has started the season, he’s been commanding and he’s been working hard.
“The problem that Liverpool had last year was who was going to be the goalkeeper but Alisson has done excellent.
“He has made a mistake, but it’s a team game and the boys stuck by him and got him through it and I’m sure he’s smart enough not to make that mistake again.”
Liverpool FC are currently top of the Premier League table after taking maximum points from their opening four games.
The Reds will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, as they look to make it five wins from five in the top flight.
Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment back in 2015.
