Injuries to Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren has seen Gomez start all four Premier League games so far this season alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Gomez has excelled as Liverpool have taken all 12 points available to them, and Henderson has said he expects Gomez to flourish further on Merseyside.
“He’s already very good but he can be even better. He’s still very young,” Henderson told the Liverpool FC website.
“He’s still improving, still learning and there’s no better place to do that than at Liverpool with the players that he’s got around him and the manager.
“I’m excited for him because I know how good he can be, and he’s got the right mentality as well.
“He’s very mature for his age. His feet are firmly on the ground and he can be as good as he wants to be.”
Gomez moved to Liverpool FC from Charlton in 2015 for £3.5m and has gone on to appear 37 times for the Reds.
His early Liverpool FC career was plagued by injuries, but after having made 23 first-team appearances last season, he has finally got the nod from boss Jürgen Klopp.
He and van Dijk have struck a balance in their defensive partnership, which neither Lovren nor Matip were able to attain since van Dijk joined in January.
Liverpool have conceded just one goal this season with Gomez and van Dijk starting every game, and that goal came as a result of a goalkeeping error which neither centre-half could do anything about.
After once again been named in England’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations’ League and friendly fixtures, the future looks bright for Gomez.
