The young defender has been a regular fixture in the first team at Anfield under the German manager this term as he bids to try and help the Reds mount a serious title challenge.
Gomez was once again in fine form for Liverpool FC as he helped the Reds to claim all three points by securing a 2-1 win over Leicester City in the top flight on Saturday afternoon.
That win helped Liverpool FC to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table and Keown was quick to single out Gomez for special praise after the game.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Keown said: “He is a real talent. Today he was better than Van Dijk and that is some compliment to him. A real talent.
“His mobility, the way that he floats across the pitch, of course he’s got to be able to pass the ball now.
“They’re servers now [the Liverpool centre backs] for this front three, you’ve got to be able to punch the ball – yes he can do that. He has the technique, he has the vision.
“He has everything in his game. His block for [James] Maddison was outstanding defending.”
Liverpool FC will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished fourth and without a trophy last season.
The Reds will take on Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League game after the international break at Wembley as they look to continue their 100 per cent start to the new campaign.
