The English striker made his first Champions League start in six years after he stood in for Roberto Firmino, who only made the bench after suffering an eye injury against Tottenham at the weekend.
Sturridge scored the opening goal in the first half with a solid header to send Liverpool FC on their way towards victory against PSG at Anfield on Tuesday night.
And Klopp was understandably delighted by the performance of the striker as he helped the Reds to claim all three points from their Champions League opener on Tuesday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Klopp said: “Great performance. Great performance of Daniel.
“The three in midfield did an outstanding job, but they only can do it when the two wingers in how we play and the No.9 are helping in all these situations to keep the formation compact.
“It was fantastic. I said to Daniel before the game he is the best shape since I’ve known him, physically, and now he had to use it – and that’s what he did. A super game, a super goal.”
Liverpool FC will now switch their focus back towards Premier League affairs and getting ready for their home clash against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have made a solid start to the new Premier League season and have won all five of their top-flight games to leave them joint top of the table along with Chelsea FC.
Liverpool FC are aiming to win a trophy this season as they search for their first piece of silverware under Klopp.
