Gary Lineker took to social media to salute James Milner after Liverpool FC claimed a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season on Saturday.

Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino either side of half-time handed the Reds the three points despite Erik Lamela’s stoppage-time strike late on.

Liverpool FC have been in fine form so far this season and they have won all of their games to leave them joint top of the table.

Milner has been a reliable part of the Liverpool FC squad under Jurgen Klopp and he completed the 90 minutes on Saturday at Wembley.

And Lineker took to social media after the game to praise Milner as he continued his fine form in a Red shirt this term.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “I once tweeted that I didn’t really know what @JamesMilner was on the football pitch.

“I do these days, and owe him an apology. He’s a terrific, versatile and intelligent footballer. My bad.”

Milner has scored one goal and made two assists in five Premier League games for Liverpool FC so far this season.

Liverpool FC will now turn their attentions to Champions League affairs and their crunch clash against Paris Saint-Germain in their group stage opener on Tuesday night.
