Shaqiri made his first Premier League start of the season for the Reds on Saturday and he played a part in their opening goal against the Saints.
The Switzerland international has been made to wait for his first team opportunities this term after having arrived at Anfield from Stoke City this summer.
Despite his positive attacking display, Klopp opted to take Shaqiri off at half-time on Saturday and replace him with James Milner.
Nevertheless, the Liverpool FC boss has insisted that he was delighted by what he saw from Shaqiri during his first Premier League start of the new campaign.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Klopp said: “Shaq between the lines – I liked that. He was very influential and made two goals, very good.”
He added: “It’s good for us to know that we can make changes and still win football games.
“We knew it before but sometimes you have to prove it and that’s what we did.”
Liverpool FC are aiming to be one of the main challengers for the title this season and they pulled two points clear at the top of the table this weekend after Chelsea FC dropped points against West Ham United.
Next up for the Reds is a home clash against Chelsea FC in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night, before they travel to Stamford Bridge in the top flight on Saturday evening.
