The Reds have made a solid start to the new season under manager Jurgen Klopp, winning all five of their Premier League games to leave them joint top of the table.
Liverpool FC ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and Klopp will be keen for his side to mount a serious title challenge this time around.
The Merseyside outfit certainly look like a force to be reckoned with this season, and they claimed an impressive 2-1 away win at Tottenham Hotspur last time out.
And former Liverpool FC star Souness feels that the Reds are laying down the foundations for a serious Premier League title challenge this term.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Souness said: “Any manager who think his team can win the Premier League will be impressed with the Liverpool team.
“He [Klopp] knows how hard they are working and he knows how much quality they’ve got when they end up with the ball.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they host Southampton at Anfield.
The Reds are still aiming to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
They reached the Champions League final last term but ended up losing to Real Madrid in the final back in May.
