Sadio Mane raves about Liverpool FC team-mate
Sadio Mane talks up Roberto Firmino's importance to the Liverpool FC team this season
Liverpool FC winger Sadio Mane believes that club mate Roberto Firmino is vital to the team’s chances of success this season.
Firmino has been ever-present for Liverpool at the start of the season as the team has secured four consecutive wins to emerge as early frontrunners in the title race.
The Brazilian already has two assists and a goal to his name, building on his impressive season for the club last year when he managed to score 15 Premier League goals in 37 appearances.
Mohamed Salah took most of the plaudits for Liverpool as they reached the Champions League final and finished fourth in the league last term and Sadio Mane has four goals already at the start of the new campaign.
But the Senegalese attacker insists that Firmino should be recognised as just as important as him and Salah, due to his unique qualities and impact on the team going forward.
As per Bleacher Report, he said: “Lots of people like to talk about me and Salah. It’s nice to hear those things, but the strength of this Liverpool team is the collective.
“You also can’t forget that there’s a guy up front called Firmino who works like an animal for us and makes things easier.
“And the guys behind us do some extraordinary work. We try to benefit from that and help the team go forward.”
Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s men is a trip to face Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, which is surely the biggest test they have faced so far this year.
Spurs have won nine points out of a possible 12 so far, losing away to Watford last time out, but they are an altogether different prospect at home.
If Liverpool can win their fifth game in a row this weekend it would really send out a strong message to the rest of their title rivals and deal a huge blow to Spurs’ chances of lifting the trophy in addition.
