The Switzerland international has been getting used to life on Merseyside after signing for the Reds from Stoke City this summer following the Potters’ relegation from the Premier League.
The 26-year-old is yet to make his first start in the Premier League for Jurgen Klopp’s men this season, but he has come off the bench in the victories against West Ham United and Leicester City.
Shaqiri will be hoping to prove himself to Klopp and earn a regular spot in the first team at Anfield as he bids to try and help Liverpool FC to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
The attacker featured for 80 minutes during Switzerland’s defeat by England on Tuesday night, and Carragher has admitted that he is a big fan of the Liverpool FC summer signing.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday night, Carragher said: “I think it’s a brilliant buy for Liverpool.
“He’s been around a long time at big clubs and has great experience.
“You look at the price tag, his age as well, he will (make an impact). He made an impact at Leicester when he came on.
“It’s one of those buys where even if it doesn’t work out, there’s no way they’re not going to get their money back. So I think it works for everyone really.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds are looking for the three points to continue their impressive 100 per cent start to the new campaign as they search for their first trophy under Klopp.
