The Red Devils signed Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto in the 2018 summer transfer window to improve Manchester United’s options at full-back.
The 19-year-old suffered an injury at the start of the Premier League campaign to delay his first appearance for the 20-time English champions.
Dalot, though, was handed his first Manchester United start in a 3-0 victory over Young Boys in their Champions League opener in Switzerland on Wednesday night.
The Manchester United summer signing impressed as the Portuguese talent helped Jose Mourinho’s side to keep a clean sheet in their group stage opener.
Dalot finished with 85 per cent pass completion and completed one successful tackle during the Champions League victory.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand delivered an encouraging verdict on Dalot.
“He will have tougher tests but as a young kid to come in, especially after an injury, is really promising,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“Remember, he only played eight games for Porto. He’s going to have a good future if he keeps improving.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last term to secure their best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The Red Devils signed Brazil international Fred and Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Manchester United haven’t won the Champions League title since 2008.
