The Brazil international moved to the Red Devils in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Fred moved to the 20-time title winners in a big money deal despite interesting from defending Premier League champions Manchester City over the past 12 months.
The Brazilian opened his account for the Red Devils in a 1-1 draw with promoted side Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Premier League fixture last weekend.
Fred has scored one goal in four Premier League appearances so far to make an encouraging if an unspectacular start.
Speaking to the club’s website ahead of Manchester United’s trip to West Ham United, Fred reflected on his first goal for the Red Devils and his form at Old Trafford so far.
“I was really happy,” Fred said.
“I even had the chance to dedicate it to my son that will be born soon. This goal was really important to me and I hope is the first of many.
“I’m still adapting to many things and in the previous games I wasn’t playing as well as I was playing before I joined the club. Now I feel much better and to be able to score my first goal was really amazing.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson masterminded their final top-flight crown before his retirement.
The Red Devils finished in second spot last term to secure their best finish since Ferguson’s retirement but ended up 19 points adrift of title winners Manchester City.
Manchester United are in seventh place in the Premier League table.
