The France international was handed the captain’s armband for the trip to Switzerland for their Champions League opener in the absence of Antonio Valencia.
Pogba started alongside Nemanja Matic and Fred in the heart of midfield as Manchester United looked to make a winning start to their European campaign.
The World Cup winner combined with Fred before the Manchester United record signing fired high into the roof of the net to break the deadlock.
Pogba scored from the spot to extend Manchester United’s lead before he played a role in Anthony Martial’s strike to ease a 3-0 win.
Former Arsenal star Keown was impressed with Pogba’s influential performance in the Manchester United team in their Champions League opener.
Keown told the Daily Mail: “Pogba was the guv’nor last night. That finish, where he switched it from his right foot on to his left, was simply sublime. He exposed the sheer gulf in class between Young Boys and Manchester United.
“The relationship between Pogba and Jose Mourinho seems cordial and professional.
“When Mourinho was disparaging about his achievements with France this summer, maybe it was a way of laying down the gauntlet to demand more from his midfielder.
“Pogba certainly embraced the challenge in last night’s victory.”
Manchester United signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A champions Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Pogba moved to Juve from Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson when his contract expired in 2012.
Manchester United have won the Europa League and the League Cup since Pogba’s return to the 20-time English champions.
