Jose Mourinho has said that he is happy with the way that Fred has been adapting to life in the Premier League with Manchester United.

The Brazilian midfielder has been getting used to life at Old Trafford after having signed for the Red Devils early in the summer transfer window as Mourinho moved quickly to bolster his squad.

Fred scored his first goal for his new employers on Saturday when he netted the opening strike in their 1-1 draw with Wolves in the Premier League.

The midfielder has started four of Manchester United’s six games in the Premier League so far this season.

And Mourinho has been happy with what he has seen from the 25-year-old Brazilian in a Manchester United shirt so far this season.

Speaking at his post-match news conference about Fred’s display, Mourinho said: “Yes, step by step. Especially when the team has the ball, of course he has quality.”

Manchester United will now switch their focus to League Cup affairs and their third-round clash against Frank Lampard’s Derby County at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils have made a sloppy start to the new Premier League season and they have only won three of their opening six top-flight games to leave them eight points off top spot.

Manchester United finished second in the table and without a trophy last term.
