‘Giant’ Romelu Lukaku credited with inspiring Man United victory
Garth Crooks singles out Romelu Lukaku for special praise after Man United's win over Burnley
Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Romelu Lukaku following his influential performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
The Belgian striker netted twice in the first half to secure the three points for the Red Devils and help them return to winning ways after their back to back defeats by Tottenham and Brighton.
Jose Mourinho had found himself under intense pressure at Old Trafford in recent days but the victory on Sunday has helped to restore confidence at the club.
Lukaku has been in solid form for Manchester United so far this season, and Crooks believes that the striker proved to be the main difference between the two sides this weekend.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “It’s just as well Mourinho has Lukaku in his side.
“The Belgian giant lives to score goals and two first-half finishes sunk Burnley like torpedoes. Apart from Marcus Rashford’s sending-off, I didn’t see an ounce of unprofessionalism.”
Manchester United have taken six points from their opening four Premier League games so far this season.
The Red Devils will look to make it back to back wins in the to flight for the first time this season when they take on Watford away from home after the international break.
Mourinho will be aiming for his Manchester United side to establish themselves as one of the main contenders for the title this season.
