Luke Shaw updates Man United fans after injury setback
Luke Shaw takes to social media after the Man United man suffered a head injury while on duty for England
Luke Shaw has taken to social media to reassure fans he is OK after his sickening head collision during England’s opening Nations League match with Spain on Saturday night.
The Manchester United left-back collided with Dani Carvajal minutes into the second half and received treatment on the pitch for seven minutes before being stretchered off.
Shaw was given oxygen as he was treated, but he posted on Twitter that fans need not fear for his safety any longer.
He tweeted: “Thank you for all the love and support I am doing fine and am in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon!”
Shaw has made a stunning comeback to form this season and has arguably been Manchester United’s best player in their opening four games.
He started in a similar vein for England last night, playing a sumptuous first-half ball behind the Spain defence, which Marcus Rashford finished to give the hosts the lead.
The sight of Shaw being surrounded by medics on the pitch brought up memories of the injury he sustained during the second season of his United career which he recently admitted almost cost him his leg.
During a group stage match of the 2015/16 Champions League against PSV Eindhoven, Shaw was tackled heavily by Hector Moreno and broke his leg in two places.
He missed the entirety of that season and had struggled to come back to fitness and form until this campaign.
