Jose Mourinho has insisted that he thinks his Manchester United side are improving after a slow start to the new season.

The Portuguese coach immediately found himself under pressure at Old Trafford this season after his side lost back to back Premier League games against Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Those defeats have left Manchester United six points off the pace in the race for the Premier League title, but they made it back to back wins in the top flight for the first time this term when they beat Watford at the weekend.

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United to a serious Premier League title challenge this season after the Red Devils finished in second place and without a trophy last term.

And the Red Devils boss has insisted that he has been encouraged by what he has seen from his Manchester United side in recent weeks.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday evening, Mourinho said: “I think we’re improving. We have found a certain balance in the team, especially in the competitive attitude.

“We’re creating lots of chances, we’re changing our profile of play and the way we attack opponents.

“We also found a way of protecting ourselves in some specific defensive situations, so in two difficult matches, both away, we managed to get the six points after two defeats which was very important for us.”

Manchester United will now switch their focus back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their final season under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
