Jose Mourinho has told his Manchester United players that he expects more from them after their disappointing 1-1 draw against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils dropped yet more points in the Premier League title race as they were pegged back by the visitors at Old Trafford this weekend.

Fred had given the home side the lead in the 18th minute at Old Trafford, but Joao Moutinho’s superb strike in the 53rd minute earned a point for the visitors.

The result came as another blow to Manchester United’s Premier League title hopes, and it left them sixth in the table and eight points behind early leaders Liverpool FC.

Manchester United have lost two and drawn one of their opening six Premier League games so far this season, and Mourinho admits that he expects a lot more from his team.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “I expect my team to make a better game than we did.

“If we had played against Wolves like we played against Tottenham, I think we win.

“It looks a contradiction but I am more disappointed today than I was against Tottenham because, against Tottenham, we obviously lost the game but I liked very much my team’s performance.

“Today, of course we had a better result, one point is better than zero, but I didn’t like my team.”

Manchester United now turn their attentions back towards League Cup affairs and their third round clash against Derby County at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Mourinho has been tasked with steering the Red Devils to a Premier League title challenge after they finished second and without a trophy last season.
