Pogba’s situation at Old Trafford has been a constant source of debate and uncertainty in recent days amid suggestions that his relationship with Mourinho is at breaking point.
The France midfielder was pictured having a frosty exchange with his manager at training on Wednesday morning in the wake of Manchester United’s League Cup exit at the hands of Derby County the night before.
Mourinho attempted to play down the situation at his pre-match news conference before Manchester United’s trip to West Ham United on Saturday.
However, former England star Shearer seems to think that Mourinho’s reign at Manchester United is likely to come to an end before Pogba’s.
Speaking in an interview with Coral, Shearer said: “Jose has taken on his players before at Chelsea and we know how that ended, he was shown the door, and I think the same outcome will happen here.
“Players are very powerful now.
“Pogba has a huge contract behind him, they can’t sell him for the next two months and Mourinho isn’t getting results on the pitch.
“When I first started in the game, players had no power at all, but I really do think it has gone too far the other way now.”
Manchester United will now switch their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their home clash against Valencia on Tuesday night at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are aiming to at least challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished second in the table and without a trophy last term.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
