Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a 1-0 win over PAOK in Greece on Thursday night.

The Blues will get their Europa League campaign underway at Stadio Toumba as Maurizio Sarri’s side look to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Chelsea FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table following five successive victories under Antonio Conte’s replacement.

Sarri’s men were 4-1 winners against promoted side Cardiff City in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Chelsea FC have failed to secure a victory in their last two trips to Greece in Uefa competitions.

Furthermore, PAOK managed to beat Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at Stadio Toumba in 1997 and 2011.

Former Arsenal playmaker Nicholas is tipping Chelsea FC to secure a narrow win against PAOK in their Europa League group stage opener.

“It’s not easy going to these places, they can be a bit hostile at times, but I am going to go for a low-scoring victory and I have a feeling Sarri will give someone like Ruben Loftus-Cheek an outing, so I will back the England midfielder to score,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

Chelsea FC won the Europa League in 2013 thanks to a 2-1 victory over Benfica in Amsterdam after the Blues crossed over to Europe’s second tier competition following their Champions League exit.

The west London side have failed to win their last four Uefa fixtures following their loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16.

The Blues will take on West Ham United in their next Premier League game on Sunday.
