Paul Pogba opens up about his situation at Man United
Paul Pogba delivers an update about his future at Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba insists reports linking with a move away from Old Trafford are just ‘rumours’.
Pogba has had a rollercoaster of a summer, full of euphoric highs and disappointing lows. At international level, he became a World Cup winner with France in Russia, but at club level, his performances have once again been called into question.
The Frenchman put in a solid performance as captain in Man United’s opening game of the new Premier League season against Leicester City in a 2-1 win, but in the three games since he has struggled to have the same impact.
In a 3-2 defeat against Brighton in particular, Pogba was anonymous and failed to drive his team forward or inspire any potentially threatening attacks throughout the match.
The 25-year-old’s inconsistency continues to blight his second spell at Old Trafford and with Barcelona reportedly interested in his services, it has been suggested that he could soon leave Manchester.
However, Pogba has now insisted that his immediate future remains with Jose Mourinho’s squad and that he is fully focused on helping the team return to winning ways.
He told Telefoot: “I’m under contract. There were little things with the coach [Mourinho], the relationship is always the same.
“We have goals in common, we want to win, that’s all that matters. As long as you do not see me with the Barcelona jersey, it’s because I’m in Manchester. It will always be rumours.”
Manchester United take on Watford at Vicarage Road next weekend and supporters will hope that Pogba can reproduce his best form to help the team win a vital three points.
