The Uruguay international has been settling into life at The Emirates after having signed for the north London side from Sampdoria in the summer.
Torreira was made to wait to make his first start for the Gunners, but he was named in the starting line-up for Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Vorskla in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The 22-year-old midfielder was forced off with an apparent knee injury late on, leaving him facing a race to be fit for Sunday’s clash with Everton in the Premier League at The Emirates.
Nevertheless, Emery seems to have been pleased with what he has seen from Torreira in an Arsenal shirt so far this season.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Thursday night, Emery said: “Well, Lucas is playing with his progress on the team and on our ideas, our performance with a passion and with a performance.
“Each minute he is playing, he is doing very well.”
Torreira has featured in all five of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season but only as a substitute.
Emery has been tasked with steering the Gunners back into the top four this season after Arsenal missed out on Champions League qualification for the last two seasons running under Arsene Wenger.
