Mark Lawrenson believes West Ham United will end Chelsea FC’s perfect start to the 2018-19 season at the London Stadium on Sunday.
The Hammers were impressive 3-1 winners against Everton at Goodison Park last weekend thanks to the performances of Marko Arnautovic and Declan Rice.
West Ham are in 16th place in the Premier League table following their first top-flight victory of the new season under Manuel Pellegrini.
Chelsea FC haven’t put a foot wrong in the Premier League so far following five successive wins to secure top spot in the English top flight.
The Blues have beaten Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Cardiff City in their opening five fixtures.
The west London side made a winning start to their Europa League campaign on Thursday night thanks to a narrow 1-0 win against PAOK in Greece.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes Chelsea FC will suffer a 2-1 loss to West Ham in the London derby at Stratford on Sunday afternoon.
“West Ham had a super win last weekend against Everton and they will be hoping Marko Arnautovic recovers from the knee injury he sustained in that game, because he was just terrific,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“The Hammers have lost both their games at London Stadium so far this season, but I have a feeling they will turn up for this one.
“That’s not based on form, because Chelsea have got five league wins out of five, or the fact West Ham are at home, because they have been struggling there.
“I might be going out on a limb in backing the Hammers, but I just think something will click for them this time.”
Chelsea FC turned to Maurizio Sarri after Antonio Conte led the Blues to a disappointing fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
The Blues will be hoping to win the Europa League for the second time in six seasons.
