The Red Devils star has been the subject of controversy this week after the club record signing criticised Manchester United’s tactics in a 1-1 draw with promoted side Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
Pogba was stripped of the vice captaincy after his comments ahead of Manchester United’s Carabao Cup clash against Championship side Derby County at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were plunged into crisis mode following their League Cup exit following an 8-7 loss on penalties to Frank Lampard’s Championship outfit on Wednesday night.
Manchester United have already lost three times in all competitions this season to raise pressing questions about Mourinho’s management and the form of Pogba.
Asked whether Pogba would start against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Mourinho confirmed that the France star would be in his starting line up.
“The team needs good players and he is a good player,” Mourinho said at his pre match news conference on Friday.
“The team needs players with personality to play – he has and he plays tomorrow. He is a player like the others. No player is bigger than the club and if I’m happy with his work, he plays; if I’m not happy with his work, he doesn’t play. I’m happy with his work.”
Manchester United ended up in second spot in the Premier League table to secure their best finish since the Sir Alex Ferguson era but finished 19 points adrift of Manchester City.
The Red Devils signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant in the 2018 summer transfer window.
