The Red Devils will start their Champions League campaign with a difficult trip to the Swiss side in their opening group stage fixture.
Manchester United have managed to bounce back from a difficult start to the Premier League season following successive losses to Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur.
Jose Mourinho’s side eased to a 2-0 win at Burnley to end their losing streak before Smalling got on the score sheet in a 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.
Manchester United are in eighth spot and six points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea FC after five games.
The Red Devils will make the trip to Young Boys to take on the Swiss side for the first time in Uefa competitions.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of their clash against Young Boys, Smalling was confident that the Red Devils can continue their recent run.
“I have played on a 3G pitch for England against Lithuania a couple of times,” Smalling told Man United’s website.
“We will be travelling over a little earlier to make sure we train on that pitch [at the Stade de Suisse] so we can get used to it but, on the back of two away wins, I think we can build that momentum at a crucial time of the month where there are so many games.”
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Young Boy’s domestic rivals Basel in the Champions League group stage last season.
Red Devils striker Romelu Lukaku scored a hat-trick for Everton in a 4-1 win at Young Boys in the Europa League in 2015.
