The Red Devils head into the game after having claimed a 2-1 win over Watford in their Premier League clash at the weekend as they made it back to back wins in the top flight for the first time this season.
Jose Mourinho had found himself under early pressure at Old Trafford after the Red Devils lost back to back games against Tottenham and Brighton to cast doubt over his side’s title credentials.
However, Manchester United have bounced back and they have taken nine points from their opening five Premier League games.
They now turn their attentions towards Champions League affairs and their away trip against Young Boys on Wednesday night.
And former Arsenal man Nicholas seems to think that the Red Devils will be able to claim a 2-1 victory this week and get their group stage campaign off to a winning start.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “It’s down to Manchester United. There has always been a scalp or two in Switzerland in the past, Basel were a team who did it to them in the past, and these are awkward games. What I will say to Man Utd is it is yours to lose. It is a game you should turn up and win even if you do not play that well.
“Romelu Lukaku is not everybody’s favourite – he’s not my favourite – but he gets goals. If you give him service, he gets goals.
“Man United should be way too strong. In reality, I see this being an unimpressive three points for Man United and I am going for 1-2 and Lukaku brace.”
Manchester United will then switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Wolves this weekend.
