Ian Wright makes claim about Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United
The Arsenal legend compared the Chilean's current performances at United to his last at the Gunners
Ian Wright has suggested Alexis Sanchez is showing all the hallmarks of wanting to leave Manchester United after a string of poor performances.
Sanchez’s appeared to be disinterested in the final months at Arsenal and was guilty of some sloppy errors as rumours circulated of interest from Manchester United and rivals Manchester City.
Wright appeared to suggest that Sanchez is now doing the same at Old Trafford and concluded Sanchez could be angling for yet another move away.
“It is a strange one,” Sanchez told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Coming to the end of his Arsenal time, he was playing like he wanted to get away.
“He was doing what he is doing now. He is giving the ball away. It’s not happening for him.”
Sanchez joined United in January as part of a swap deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the other way, and reports suggest Sanchez earns up to a staggering £500,000 a week before tax.
After being Arsenal’s best player for most of the time at the club, it seemed certain he would follow Robin van Persie’s footprints and kick on at United.
However, just three goals in 23 appearances for Man United and none this season has seen him benched and looking forlorn.
Wright believes his form mirrors that of his latter days at Arsenal, where he appeared disinterested after his team struggled.
For Man United, offloading Sanchez would represent a minor miracle with the Chilean being paid so much and unlikely to take the huge pay cut that surely would await him.
He has managed to avoid public derision to the level seen elsewhere at United at the moment, but fans will be left scratching their heads at what they are actually paying for.
