Gary Lineker has taken to social media to salute Unai Emery after Arsenal notched up their 11th straight win in all competitions on Thursday night.

Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game as the north London side recorded a 1-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League group stage in Portugal, as the Gunners continued their impressive start to the season.

The picture at The Emirates has changed dramatically after Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season with back to back defeats by Chelsea FC and Manchester City.

Emery was brought in to replace Arsene Wenger at The Emirates back in May and the Spanish manager has been earning praise in recent weeks for his clear impact at the north London club.

Arsenal have won their last seven games in the Premier League and 11 in all competitions, with the Gunners seemingly adapting quickly to life under their new manager.

And England legend Lineker took to social media after the game on Thursday night to praise Emery for the impact he’s had since taking charge.

Lineker wrote on Twitter following the 1-0 victory: “Arsenal make it 11 wins on the bounce. Emery impressively making a difference very quickly.”

Despite Arsenal’s impressive run, Emery himself has insisted that the Gunners are now only focused on securing the victory away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

“We are thinking about three points at Crystal Palace but we know that it’s very difficult to win there,” Emery told his post-match news conference on Thursday night.

“For us, continuing to win is what we want but we know it’s not easy and we can lose.

“We’re only thinking about the best performance for us. We want to continue winning and we also want to continue to improve things.

“Each match is a big opportunity for every player to show us they can take big responsibility with this personality to play like we want. We need every player.”

Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League table and two points off top spot.
