Eden Hazard needs to score more than 20 goals a season in two or three consecutive campaigns at Chelsea FC to be considered as one of the world’s best players, Matt Le Tissier has claimed.

The Belgium international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players over the past six seasons at the west London side under five different managers.

Rafael Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri have all attempted to get the best out of the undoubtedly talented 27-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri appears to have extracted the standout performances from Hazard, although the Italian head coach has been in charge of the west London side for little over four months.

Hazard has made a scintillating start to the Premier League season with seven goals in eight games to help Chelsea FC collect 20 points and keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool FC.

But the Belgian forward has never scored more than 16 times in a Premier League campaign, doing so when Chelsea FC won the title under Conte in 2016-17.

For all his ability to create chances and score spectacular goals, Hazard has never troubled the likes of Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane for the Premier League’s golden boot.

Former Southampton captain Le Tissier doesn’t believe Hazard can move to the next level alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo until the Chelsea FC number 10 is scoring 20 goals a season consistently.

“Hazard is head and shoulders above everyone in the league so far this season. I saw him at Southampton when he didn’t have his best game but was still a huge danger every time he got the ball,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.

“He just needs to put two or three seasons together of getting 20 goals, while still contributing in the other ways he does, then he will be getting somewhere near Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in that top bracket.”

Hazard moved to Chelsea FC from Ligue 1 side Lille in 2012 despite interest from Manchester City and Manchester United in the talented Belgian star.

The Blues forward has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League, the FA Cup and three League Cups during his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC will host Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday as Hazard and his team-mates look to extend their unbeaten run to nine games.
