Jamie Carragher has warned that Chelsea FC’s can’t be written off in the Premier League title race.

The Blues have made an impressive start to the Premier League season under Maurizio Sarri’s replacement in the summer after Chelsea FC parted company with Antonio Conte.

The Italian head coach took over the reins following his successful stint in charge of Napoli, having transformed the Naples outfit into title challengers last term.

Chelsea FC eased to five successive victories at the start of the season thanks to wins against Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United, Cardiff City, Bournemouth and Arsenal.

However, Chelsea FC dropped points in a goalless draw with West Ham United at the London Stadium to lose ground on their title rivals Liverpool FC.

The Blues were close to a vital win over Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield last weekend after Eden Hazard’s opener was cancelled out by Daniel Sturridge’s goal with two minutes left to play.

Chelsea FC have the chance to move ahead of Liverpool FC and Manchester City this weekend given the two title rivals will face off at Anfield on Sunday evening.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher believes Chelsea FC are potential title winners this season despite Sarri taking over the reins at the west London side a matter of months ago.

“I wouldn’t write off Chelsea,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “They have a great habit of winning trophies, certainly early in a new manager’s reign.

“Spurs as well, after a bit of a wobble, are only four points off the top.

“But I think it will be difficult for Spurs to challenge for the title with their squad depth and how many players went to the World Cup but I wouldn’t write off Chelsea with Eden Hazard in the form he’s in.

“But Klopp has been there a lot longer than Sarri and Pep’s into his third season also – and both sides are looking the real deal at this early stage – you would say it would be between these two, with City being big favourites.”

Chelsea FC have won two Premier League titles in the past four seasons under two different manager Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

However, the Blues have struggled to find a level of consistency over the course of back-to-back seasons given Chelsea FC missed out on a top-four finish in the immediate campaigns after their title successes in 2015 and 2017.

The Blues ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table last term to culminate in Conte’s dismissal, despite the Italian manager leading Chelsea FC to FA Cup title glory.

Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the Wembley showpiece after Hazard scored a first-half winner to win their first FA Cup under Conte.

The west London side signed Napoli midfielder Jorginho, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovavic and veteran English goalkeeper Rob Green in the 2018 summer transfer window.
