The Belgium international completed a £31m move to the Champions League holders in the 2018 summer transfer window following months of speculation linking the Chelsea FC number one with a switch to Madrid.
Courtois had less than 12 months left to run on his deal with the west London side and the FA Cup holders opted to sell the Belgian shot-stopper rather than lose him for nothing next summer.
Chelsea FC wasted no time recruiting Kepa in a world-record deal for a goalkeeper after the Blues spent £75m on the Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper to fill Courtois’ void.
The 24-year-old has made a solid start to his Chelsea FC career under Maurizio Sarri despite his lack of exposure to the rigours of English football.
Kepa has kept four clean sheets in his first eight games in the Premier League, as well as back-to-back clean sheets in the Europa League against PAOK and Vidi FC.
Hazard, who has scored seven times in eight games in the Premier League this term, is confident that Kepa can fill Courtois’s void at Chelsea FC.
“They are top players for sure and Kepa, the goalkeeper – he is a fantastic young goalkeeper with a lot of quality,” Hazard told SPORTbible.
“When you bring this kind of guy into the team, the team is better for sure.
“We lost the best goalkeeper in the world but I think the team is better this year than last season and we can see it every weekend.”
Kepa established himself as Athletic Bilbao’s first-choice goalkeeper during the 2016-17 season at the age of 22.
The Spain international made 54 appearances in all competitions during his two campaigns in the Bilbao goal before Chelsea FC brought the shot stopper to England.
Kepa helped Chelsea FC to ease to a 3-2 win over Arsenal back in August before the Spanish starlet couldn’t stop Daniel Sturridge’s stunning equaliser in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea FC number one will be hoping to keep his fifth clean sheet of the league campaign when Manchester United make the trip to west London on Saturday 20 October.
