Ross Barkley has rediscovered his best football at Chelsea FC, BBC Sport pundit Garth Crook has claimed.

The England international was one of Chelsea FC’s best players in an impressive 3-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s last weekend.

Barkley teed up Eden Hazard to break the deadlock in the 30th minute before the Chelsea FC number eight scored his first Blues goal against the Saints.

The 24-year-old has started three times and has made four substitute appearances to highlight Maurizio Sarri’s growing trust in the Englishman.

Barkley arrived at Chelsea FC under Antonio Conte in the January transfer window after the England international completed a cut-price £15m deal from Eveton.

Having overcome a string of injury setbacks and off-field problems, Barkley appears to have settled at the west London side after earning a recall to the England squad.

Former Spurs forward Crooks believes Barkley has bounced back from a difficult start to his Chelsea FC career with his excellent performances in recent months.

“What a way to celebrate your return to the England squad,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“Ross Barkley’s performance against Southampton smacked of a player who has rediscovered himself.

“His move to Chelsea opened up a number of opportunities for a player with enormous talent who had lost his way at Everton.

“Barkley played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s victory over the Saints, scoring his first goal for the club and setting up Eden Hazard for his excellent finish.”

Barkley failed to find the net in his first 14 appearances in all competitions for the west London side before the Three Lions star got on the score sheet at Southampton.

The England star will be hoping to build on his impressive start to the campaign when Chelsea FC welcome Manchester United to Old Trafford in their next Premier League game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 20 October.

Barkley will have his sights set on retaining his starting spot in Maurizio Sarri’s team alongside fellow midfielders N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

The former Everton midfielder seems to have struck up a promising understanding with Chelsea FC talisman Hazard, which will encourage Blues fans.
