The 31-year-old midfielder missed most of the opening games of the season due to a knee injury, but he has been working hard behind the scenes at Cobham to prove himself as worthy of a spot in Sarri’s side.
Fabregas will now be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge, despite the increased competition in Chelsea FC’s midfield following the arrival of Jorginho in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder is still waiting to make his first appearance for the Blues in the Premier League this season as he works his way back to full fitness.
However, Sarri has been happy with what he has seen from Fabregas recently, as the Chelsea FC boss begins to turn his thoughts towards preparing his team for the Premier League trip to Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday before Chelsea FC’s clash with Videoton in the Europa League, Sarri said: “Cesc did very well for 90 minutes in Liverpool.
“He has to improve his physical condition of course but he is a great option in this position.
“Cesc is very good in moving the ball, like Jorginho, more than Jorginho, so we don’t need to change the style of football with Fabregas.”
Fabregas is widely considered to be one of Europe’s top creative midfielders, but the Spaniard has not always been given the regular playing time he has wanted since his move to Stamford Bridge from FC Barcelona back in 2014, when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
Despite that, he has still won the Premier League twice, as well as the League Cup and FA Cup since his move to the west London club.
Chelsea FC have been in solid form so far this season under their new manager, and the Blues have been earning lots of praise for their strong performances.
The west London side are without a win in their last two Premier League outings, however, with the Blues having been held to draws by both West Ham United and Liverpool FC.
Chelsea FC will now look to head into the international break on a positive note by claiming the three points against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
