The England midfielder has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting line up under new manager Maurizio Sarri but he proved his worth to the Blues with a superb trio of goals at Stamford Bridge in the Europa League tie on Thursday night.
Loftus-Cheek, who spent last season on loan to Crystal Palace, is yet to start a game in the Premier League for the Blues this season, but he has started twice in the Europa League for the west London side.
The 22-year-old will be hoping that his performance on Thursday will help him to stake a claim for a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge under new boss Sarri.
And England legend Lineker was quick to pay tribute to Loftus-Cheek on social media after the midfielder inspired the west London side to victory on Thursday.
Lineker posted on Twitter: “Great to see young English talent performing so well. A cheeky little hat-trick from @rubey_lcheek 👏👏.”
Loftus-Cheek will be hoping to be involved when Chelsea FC return to Premier League action on Sunday with a trip to Burnley.
Speaking to BT Sport after Thursday’s win, Loftus-Cheek admitted his delight at netting a hat-trick for the west Londoners.
“It feels really good. I walked into the dressing room and the players gave me a round of applause and a cheer,” said Loftus-Cheek.
Chelsea FC are currently third in the Premier League table and two points off top spot.
