Jermaine Jenas has lavished praise on Liverpool FC striker Daniel Sturridge after his equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Chelsea FC on Saturday evening.

The England international came off the bench to score a leveller with minutes left to play in their stalemate at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Sturridge scored successive goals against Chelsea FC after the 29-year-old found the net in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea FC in the League Cup third round last week.

The former Manchester City striker has made an impressive start to the season with five goals in all competitions.

Indeed, the injury prone centre-forward has now scored three goals in the Premier League this term.

Former Spurs midfielder Jenas heaped praise on Sturridge for his moment of magic at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

“It’s exactly what he’s capable of,” Jenas told BT Sport. “It’s pure genius.

“You can feel sorry for Chelsea because there’s nothing you can do about it.

“If you’re going to be ultra critical, you ask if Kante can get a bit closer.”

Sturridge has now scored 50 goals in 103 games in the Premier League for Liverpool FC.

The Reds signed Sturridge in a £12m deal from Chelsea FC in the 2013 January transfer window.

Liverpool FC brought in four new faces in the summer transfer window to bolster Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The Merseyside outfit signed Monaco star Fabinho, RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, Stoke playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
