The Guinea international was handed his first Champions League start for the Reds following his move to Liverpool FC from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.
Keita provided a spark in the Liverpool FC midfield in an otherwise tepid performance from Klopp’s men in their second Champions League group stage fixture of the current season.
However, the summer signing was forced off in the 19th minute with what appeared to be a back problem to cast doubt on his participation against Manchester City this weekend.
Indeed, Klopp’s Liverpool FC side will host the defending Premier League champions on Sunday evening in what should be a telling game in the title race.
The German head coach was unable to shed light on Keita’s injury ahead of the visit of Pep Guardiola’s men.
“I don’t know at the moment. We have to wait,” Klopp told BT Sport about Keita’s injury.
Liverpool FC agreed a £48m fee to sign Keita from RB Leipzig in the 2017 summer transfer window but the two clubs agreed that the African star wouldn’t complete a move until 2018.
Keita has taken on the responsibility of wearing the number eight shirt at Liverpool FC, which was previously worn by club legend Steven Gerrard.
The 23-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions this season but Keita has failed to score a goal or make an assist at the Merseyside outfit this term.
The Guinean midfielder proved a big hit during his two seasons at RB Leizpig with 17 goals in 71 games in all competitions after the German side signed the versatile midfielder in a £12m deal from Swiss club Red Bull Salzburg in 2016.
