Liverpool FC and Manchester United are both tracking PSV Eindhoven starlet Steven Bergwijn ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report in the Netherlands.

Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Premier League duo are monitoring the 20-year-old’s performances for both club and country.

The same article states that Liverpool FC and Manchester United both sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old during PSV’s loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League earlier this month.

According to the same story, PSV resisted interest from Serie A outfit Torino and French club Bordeaux in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The Sun goes on to suggest that Jose Mourinho is eager to sign a winger in the next transfer window to ensure Romelu Lukaku gets better service following the striker’s slow start to the season.

It’s understandable why Liverpool FC and Manchester United are both keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder given his impressive start to the season at PSV.

Bergwijn has scored four goals and has made four assists in eight games in the Dutch top flight this season to attract interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

The Dutch starlet has already scored some big goals in his career after Berwijn netted the third goal as PSV beat rivals Ajax 3-0 to clinch the 2017/18 Eredivisie title last term.

His record for PSV already makes for impressive reading after a return of 14 goals in 68 games in his fledgling career so far.

Unsurprisingly, Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman has taken note of the PSV star’s eye-catching performances and the former Everton boss handed Berwijn his first cap in a 3-0 win over Germany during the international break.

Liverpool FC could have the edge over Manchester United given the current Dutch theme in Jurgen Klopp’s squad given Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum are first-team starters.
