Paul Ince says he isn’t surprised to see Alexis Sanchez struggle at Manchester United.

The 20-time English champions won the race to sign Sanchez in the January transfer window after beating Manchester City to his signature.

However, Sanchez has struggled to hit the ground running at Old Trafford despite the array of talent surrounding the South American at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old netted three times in 18 outings in all competitions in the second half of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

The ex-Barcelona forward is still waiting to score his first goal of the current campaign as Sanchez continues to look a shadow of the player who thrilled Arsenal supporters for three and a half seasons.

The former Manchester United midfielder believes Sanchez was never a good fit for the Red Devils.

“When Alexis Sanchez first went to Manchester United, it was obvious he was going to a team that doesn’t suit the way he plays,” Ince told Paddy Power.

“The style of play is completely different.

“I see people saying that he doesn’t try or doesn’t work hard enough, and I’m not having that. He works as hard as he can, but when the way you play just doesn’t fit into a team, what else can you do?”

Sanchez was omitted from the Manchester United side as the Red Devils lost 3-1 to West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend.

Manchester United are in tenth spot in the Premier League table and nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City and Liverpool FC.

Sanchez won two FA Cup titles during his spell at Arsenal following a £35m move from Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
