The Red Devils slumped to a 3-1 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend to heap pressure on Mourinho following a woeful start to the Premier League campaign.
However, they did bounce back to winning ways on Saturday when they claimed a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Mourinho’s prospects of winning a trophy in the 2018-19 campaign after looking slimmer following Manchester United’s 8-7 loss on penalties to Championship side Derby County in the League Cup third round.
Mourinho has won the Europa League and the League Cup since taking over the reins of Manchester United from his former FC Barcelona head coach Louis van Gaal.
And former Chelsea FC striker Sutton believes Mourinho’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end.
“I don’t things are going to get better,” Sutton told BBC Radio. “It’s time for him to go.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge and the Red Devils managed to see off competition from Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City outfit.
The 20-time English champions ended up in runners up spot last term after Manchester United finished 19 points behind Pep Guardiola’s impressive Citizens side.
The Red Devils signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant in the 2018 summer transfer window but the summer additions have proven insufficient to close the gap on the defending champions.
Manchester United were 3-0 winners against Young Boys in their opening Champions League fixture in the group stage before a disappointing goalless draw with Valencia.
Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in Premier League history after the Portuguese coach led Chelsea FC to title success in 2005, 2006 and 2015.
While the former Real Madrid head coach has won the Champions League with Inter Milan and FC Porto, Mourinho hasn’t won the European trophies with Chelsea FC or Manchester United.
The 20-time English champions haven’t won the Champions League title since 2008 when they beat Chelsea FC on penalties but the Red Devils lost to FC Barcelona in 2009 and 2011.
