Manchester United missed out on some key signings in the 2018 summer transfer window as their title rivals significantly strengthened.
The 20-time English champions snapped up Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant.
However, Manchester United looked to have paid the price for their lack of signings after collecting 10 points from their opening seven games.
The Red Devils have already lost to West Ham, Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur and Derby County in all competitions this term.
Reports in the English media have claimed that Mourinho and Woodward’s relationship has become fractured due to the club’s transfer business.
But former Manchester United manager Moyes believes the Red Devils duo in fact have a good understanding.
“I think Ed and Jose do have a good relationship,” Moyes told Sky Sports.
“I don’t know for sure. You need a good relationship with your chief executive. You have to sign players so quickly. You need the trust.”
Manchester United were 3-0 winners against Young Boys in the Champions League to secure three points in their European season opener.
The Red Devils will host La Liga side Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night in their second European fixture.
