Phil Neville has admitted that he would love to insert Juventus duo Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini into the Manchester United team.

The Italian centre-halves produced a masterful performance in Juve’s 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford for the second time on Tuesday night since the Portugal international moved to Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2009.

His Juve strike partner Paulo Dybala has also been linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford over the past few months following Ronaldo’s arrival in Turin.

However, the pair combined to unlock Jose Mourinho’s defence after the Argentina international finished from close range to score his fourth goal in two Champions League outings.

Bonucci and Chiellini ensured Romelu Lukaku had a quiet night leading the Manchester United attack and the Juventus defenders never looked under threat.

Paul Pogba hit the woodwork with an ambitious attempt from outside the penalty area but the home side were unable to find a way past the Juve defence.

Addressing Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to the Serie A champions at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, Neville named Bonucci and Chiellini as the two players he would like to sign to improve the Red Devils.

“The defending from their centre-halves [was brilliant],” Neville told BBC Radio 5 Live at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

“Even if I could pick Ronaldo or Dybala, I’d pick their centre-halves to put in the Man United team. They were sensational.”

Manchester United are still in second place in their Champions League group after Valencia were held to a draw with Young Boys in Switzerland.

The Red Devils were 3-0 winners against the Swiss club to make a winning start to their European campaign.

Manchester United will make the trip to Turin in their next Champions League fixture in pursuit of a third win in Turin.

However, the Red Devils will face Everton and Bournemouth before returning to European action on Wednesday 7 November.

Manchester United haven’t won the Champions League since 2008 when the Red Devils beat Chelsea FC in Moscow.
