Jamie Carragher has warned Jose Mourinho that he could be on his way out of Manchester United before Christmas.

The Portuguese coach has found himself under intense pressure at Old Trafford in recent weeks after his side’s stuttering start to the new campaign.

Manchester United were dumped out of the League Cup by Derby County last week and they then slumped to their third Premier League defeat of the season with a 3-1 loss to West Ham United at the weekend.

Their poor start to the new campaign has left Manchester United down in 10th place in the Premier League table and nine points off top spot at this early stage.

Mourinho will be aiming to see his team return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday when they host Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

However, former Liverpool FC star Carragher feels that the manager must turn things around quickly at Old Trafford or face the chop.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I think he’s got a huge problem.

“I didn’t think he’d be manager next season, I said that after the Tottenham game, but it may be quicker than that.

“And certainly with two international breaks coming, one in a couple of weeks and one later on, and with more difficult fixtures I think he may have a huge problem if he doesn’t turn it around very quickly.”

Manchester United finished in second place and without a trophy last season, and the Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since their triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
