Chris Sutton believes that Jose Mourinho will have left Manchester United by the end of October.

It has been a tumultuous start to the season for Mourinho and his Manchester United side, with the Red Devils failing to find any consistent form to leave them already under pressure at this early stage of the campaign.

Manchester United have already lost three games in the Premier League this season to leave them in 10th place and nine points of leaders Manchester City after seven fixtures.

The Red Devils were also dumped out of the League Cup by Derby County last week – and they failed to win again when they were held to a goalless draw by Valencia at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Manchester United’s stuttering form during a season in which they were expected to challenge for the title has inevitably prompted questions about Mourinho’s situation at the club.

And former footballer Sutton seems to think that Mourinho’s days are clearly numbered.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 5 live, Sutton said: “I don’t think Mourinho will make Christmas. He will be sacked before Halloween.”

Manchester United will attempt to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League at Old Trafford, before the international break.

The Red Devils were sent crashing to a 3-1 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend as they were widely criticised for a below-par display.

Manchester United were supposed to be one of the main contenders for major trophies this season, after they ended up in second place and without any silverware in Mourinho’s second campaign in charge last term.

However, their disastrous start to the new season has prompted them to reassess their targets for the campaign – the primary one now being to string together a series of positive results.

Manchester United brought in Mourinho as Louis van Gaal’s permanent successor in May 2016, and the Portuguese coach led the Red Devils to the Europa League and League Cup in his first campaign in charge.
