Man United lost 3-1 at West Ham on Saturday after a week of continued turmoil in the press over Mourinho’s relationship with Paul Pogba.
The line of questioning of most reporters currently centres around this relationship and despite continued absent performances from Pogba, Mourinho insists there is no problem with his relationship with his players.
Mourinho told Man United’s website: “I have no complaints with the players’ attitude.”
The defeat against West Ham has left Man United in tenth position and most likely out of the title race already.
After huge spending since joining, Man United had a quiet summer in the transfer market apart from a bizarre feud between Mourinho and United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
The turmoil has continued onto the pitch, with United out of the League Cup after an embarrassing home defeat to Championship side Derby last week.
The trip to West Ham was never going to be easy and the Hammers two opening goals should both have been ruled out, but Man United did not do enough to warrant victory regardless.
Mourinho is in serious hot water at Man United as his abrasive attitude with the press has led to little sympathy.
His relationship with the British media has always been more newsworthy than results on the pitch, and its sourness has often been coupled with poor performances.
The trend is not being bucked, and Mourinho’s position is unanimously desperate.
