Kevin Kilbane has suggested that Paul Pogba is performing poorly for Manchester United in order to engineer a move away.

So far this season, Pogba has looked a shadow of the player he was during the summer and France’s victorious World Cup campaign.

Question marks have been raised over Pogba’s relationship with Jose Mourinho, and Kilbane believes there is calculation on Pogba’s part as he sees no future with United.

Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk: “He can use his form to try and manipulate a move away. You can see it.”

Pogba rejoined United in 2016 for a fee reported to be in the region of £89m at the same time as Mourinho joined the club.

It was meant to be a match made in heaven, with Mourinho meant to deliver the club from the slump it experienced after Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Despite leading them back into the Champions League, things have unravelled quickly at United, and Pogba’s form is a key factor to that.

He has shown glimpses of the form he managed in the summer this season, but his consistency has left a lot to be desired.

And Kilbane thinks this is not just a player losing form, but something intended to call the biggest clubs in the world to arms and bring him in.
