Sky Sports is reporting that Arsenal have told the 27-year-old midfielder “in person” that he will not be offered a new deal at the north London club.
According to the same story, the midfielder was unhappy that nobody from the club had explained to him why the Gunners had opted to withdraw their offer of a new deal after months of talks.
The article says that the club held talks with Ramsey over the weekend – and that the midfielder has now accepted that this will be his last season at Arsenal.
Ramsey has been a consistent performer for the Gunners since signing from Cardiff City back in 2008, scoring 59 goals in 341 appearances in all competitions.
The news of Arsenal’s decision to withdraw their contract offer came as something of a surprise to Gunners fans, who were widely expecting the north London club to try and tie Ramsey down to a new long-term deal.
As things stand, Ramsey could end up leaving Arsenal for nothing next summer, when his current contract at The Emirates expires.
Meanwhile, Ramsey will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a crunch clash against Liverpool FC at The Emirates.
Arsenal are currently fourth and four points behind joint leaders Manchester City and Liverpool FC.
