Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in a potential deal to sign Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, according to a report

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both keeping tabs on Eric Bailly’s developing situation at Manchester United, according to a report in England.

The Daily Record is reporting that the north London clubs are interested in the Ivory Coast international as his future at Old Trafford continues to look bleak.

The same article states that Arsenal and Tottenham enquired about Bailly in the summer transfer window but Manchester United knocked back their interest.

According to the same story, Jose Mourinho would prefer to keep the former Villarreal defender despite using the 24-year-old sparingly in the Premier League campaign so far.

The Daily Record adds that the Manchester United manager is eager to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to bolster his struggling back four.

Manchester United have conceded 21 times in 12 games in the Premier League this season to raise questions about Mourinho’s defence in the current campaign.

The Red Devils boss has relied upon Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling in the heart of his defence over the past month or so.

Bailly hasn’t started a Premier League game since he was subbed off in the 19th minute of their 3-2 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford last month.

Manchester United are in eighth place in the Premier League table and 12 points adrift of Manchester City after the leaders were 3-1 winners against their derby rivals last weekend.
