Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Gunners have maintained an interest in the 21-year-old talent.
The same article states that Arsenal are still “big admirers” of the France international in spite of Dembele’s controversial spell at FC Barcelona so far.
According to the same story, the north London side’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat remains interested in the World Cup winner.
Dembele’s 18 months at the Camp Nou has been punctuated by moments of ill discipline to raise concerns about his lack of progress at the Spanish giants.
Arsenal could have an advantage in the race to sign Dembele given Mislintat has worked with the precocious French talent during his spell at Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, the 46-year-old Arsenal chief orchestrated the signing of Dembele in 2016 after Dortmund snapped up the promising forward from French side Rennes.
Dembele scored 10 goals in 50 games for the German side before FC Barcelona spent €105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons to land the exciting French talent in 2017.
However, the FC Barcelona forward has been overshadowed by another exciting French talent give Kylian Mbappe’s exciting emergence as one of Europe’s top prospects.
Dembele has netted 10 times in 38 games in all competitions for the Catalan side.
